Artist Lecture: Monica Maccaux On September 11, I had the chance to attend Monica’s lecture at the Black Rock Press and there we learned quite a bit about her and her work. Personally, I was rather interested in what she had to say as a graphic designer and working on the graphic design program here at UNR. The reason for this is a simple one. Back in high school, I was part of a graphic design program at my school and took classes on it for all four years I was there with a fantastic teacher who really showed me what was possible. I enjoyed much of the digital arts aspect but eventually realized it was not quite the direction I wanted to, thus my current major focus on digital media as opposed to graphic design. Performance Artists
Blue Man Group The Blue Man Group is a well-known group with a focus on performance art combined with music. I've always been interested in music and art and how they can interact and the Blue Man Group makes it a theatrical performance as well. Their shows are known for being messy and colorful, no surprise really given that they wear blue paint. I always kinda wanted to see one of their shows, having grown up in Vegas, but never got the chance to before since no one else in my family really wanted to. But I've seen short videos and clips of their performances before and enough to interest me in seeing them. Their use of improvised instruments is especially interesting to me.
