Paik and Vostell Art
Paik's Electronic Superhighway: Continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii (1995)
Vostell's Oscillograph on Beethoven (1959-1963)
I found Paik's Electronic Superhighway piece interesting because I thought it was an interesting way to display this work. I like the neon and the brightness it gives to the piece. I also like the careful arrangement of the TVs to fit in the specific outlines of the states, even using really small ones to fit. I liked Vostell's Oscillograph mostly because of nostalgia and memories. It reminded me of the patterns I remember Windows Media Player displaying when listening to music on out old PC at home. I really enjoy that the visualization of sound has such a long history too.
